Description of the Position:


Support Electronic trading systems with responsibility for handling problems, monitoring and responding to queries regarding the functions of the application databases, as well as upgrading the system from integration and QA through to user acceptance and production. Operate as part of team on shift system including coverage in EU, Asia-Pac hours in addition to US trading hours.



  • Responsible for management and support of all application databases and environments.  

  • Providing administration and support for our development team, creating permanent solutions using standards and automation and facilitating a stable and reliable trading environment across platforms and systems.  

  • Day to day support and Administration of MSSQL

  • MSSQL installation, configuration and maintenance

  • MSSQL version migration(s) and upgrades

  • Replication Server design, build and support

  • Performance tuning of MSSQL.

  • SQL performance tuning and troubleshooting skills

  • Database backup, restore, consistency checking and repair

  • Evaluating the current backup and recovery solutions and make recommendations for improving it.  

  • Mandatory 3-5 years of SSIS experience

  • Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.  

  • Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.

  • Must work well in fast pasted environment with multiple IT teams and clients to produce a high level of client satisfaction.  

  • Proactively manage business critical  real-time trading systems in order to identify issues and potential problem areas

  • Interact with various internal IT support functions,  Development, Quality Assurance, Operations and external 3rd party vendors to troubleshoot and resolve problems

  • Actively identify incidents and as necessary manage the incident resolution process to provide service recovery and manage client communications and expectations in respect to incident resolution

  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies (i.e. change management, IT security standards, release management, incident management)

  • Work with all parties to provide services to agreed SLA’s.

  • Work through Annual Disaster Recovery testing and BCP planning

  • Manage Global Database Environment

  • Performing tasks on weekends and off business hours to cover support and system upgrade requirements


  • SQL 2005/2008/2012, Strong T-SQL

  • Windows 2003, 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2

  • Strong Performance Tuning

  • Experience with Enterprise sized Databases

  • Experience with Clustering

  • Experience working in an enterprise environment

  • Detail oriented, team player

  • Monitor multiple production servers

  • Strong experience and a good working knowledge of real time trading systems
